The challenge
Our client, a leading provider of IT services and digital solutions to the global education sector, was looking for a recruitment solution following poor service from their previous provider.
They said they had been experiencing:
Poor management information (MI)
A low quality of candidates
Multiple invoices
A disjointed payrolling process for candidates
A slow turnaround for enhanced DBS checks, which were needed as IT engineers were onsite at schools
As a result, they were keen to achieve cost savings, a more seamless process using a better vendor management system (VMS), improved MI, more direct sourcing, a single, consolidated invoice to allow them to drill down into different areas, and a faster turnaround on DBS checks.
Reed Talent Solutions was appointed as their managed service provider in January 2020.
On embarking on our journey with our client, we also discovered there were issues with their recruitment approvals process for contingent hiring – something that was quickly resolved, as well as challenges and the specialist, niche nature of some of the roles.
The solution
With most managed services contract there is typically a 12-week implementation period whereby incumbent contractors are transitioned to the newly appointed provider.
In this case, our client’s previous supplier exited the contract prematurely, disengaging with any new supply, so we picked up the service with immediate effect, sourcing new talent from before the ‘official’ go-live date.
All implementation activities continued in the background, with a key focus on high touch training for line managers. This support continued into business-as-usual service delivery, with regular workforce planning activities and the provision of meaningful MI as well as regular reviews to tweak the service.
Throughout the process, we listened to the client’s requirements and adapted when necessary. An example of this being direct engagement with our team of specialist recruiters to generate a greater understanding of our client's business, and enhance our ability to secure the right talent first time around.
The results
We currently deliver a master vendor solution for the supply of all staffing categories, across all levels of seniority for sites/offices across the UK in categories such as IT, customer services, finance, and human resources.
All in all, we have placed 274 specialist technology professionals since the start of the contract and, on average, are successfully placing 15 requirements each month.
We have successfully filled 100% of assignments directly, without the need to engage our supply chain. This includes recruiting roles such as data analysts, project managers, support engineers, business analysts, service desk engineers, and associate consultants.
As a result of our success, our client has now awarded Reed Talent Solutions a new contract for the supply of contingent workers for our client's distribution centres, with key roles including warehouse operatives and customer service advisors within their contact centre.
